Its history began when John Gregg started delivering fresh eggs and yeast to households in Newcastle, later opening a bakery shop on Gosforth High Street. The company was incorporated in 1951 and adopted the Greggs name in 1983. Today, Greggs operates more than 2,700 shops across the UK, offering freshly prepared sandwiches, pastries, savouries, drinks, breakfast products and other affordable food. It remains a publicly listed independent company.
