Posta Shqiptare is the national postal service of Albania and one of the country's main providers of postal and financial services. Its origins date to 5 December 1912, when the first Albanian government established a dedicated postal and telegraph ministry shortly after independence. The organization operates a nationwide network of more than 500 post offices and provides domestic and international mail, express delivery, parcel, financial, payment and philatelic services. In 1999, the state postal enterprise was transformed into a joint-stock company, and it remains fully state-owned.
