The Andrew Yang 2020 Presidential Campaign was the official effort of entrepreneur and nonprofit founder Andrew Yang to seek the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. Announced in late 2017, the campaign gained national attention for promoting Universal Basic Income (“Freedom Dividend”) as a response to job automation and economic inequality. Headquartered in New York City, Yang’s movement leveraged grassroots organizing and a strong online presence, attracting a diverse base of supporters known as the “Yang Gang.” Though he suspended the campaign in February 2020, it reshaped public debate on technology and the future of work.
