Au Bon Pain is an American bakery-café brand founded in Boston in 1976. The company became known for freshly baked breads, croissants, pastries and French-inspired bakery products, later expanding its menu to include sandwiches, soups, salads, breakfast items and coffee. Au Bon Pain grew through company-operated and franchised locations in the United States and internationally, particularly in hospitals, universities, transportation centers and office buildings. After several ownership changes, the brand was acquired by Panera Bread in 2017 and later by AMPEX Brands in 2021. Today, Au Bon Pain remains an active bakery-café chain.
