Buffalo Bulls are the intercollegiate athletic teams representing the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York. The program competes in NCAA Division I, with its teams primarily members of the Mid-American Conference. Buffalo fields varsity teams in sports including football, basketball, soccer, wrestling, volleyball, baseball, softball, tennis and swimming. Its athletic history dates to 1894, when the university's first football team was formed. The teams were known as the Buffalo Bisons before adopting the Bulls nickname in 1931. Today, the Bulls remain the only SUNY program competing in NCAA Division I FBS football.
