Cray was an American technology company specializing in high-performance computing and supercomputers. Its corporate predecessor, Tera Computer Company, was incorporated in Washington in 1987 and acquired the operating assets of Cray Research in 2000, adopting the Cray Inc. name. The company developed advanced supercomputing systems, storage solutions, analytics platforms and related services for scientific research, government and commercial applications. Cray was acquired by Hewlett Packard Enterprise in September 2019 for approximately $1.4 billion and became part of HPE’s high-performance computing business.
