About the brand ❤️
The European Energy Award (eea) is an international quality management and certification system that supports local governments across Europe in planning, implementing, and evaluating energy efficiency and climate policy measures. It is governed by the Association European Energy Award AISBL, a non‑profit headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, with an office also in Zurich. Established in 2003 from earlier national programmes in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, the eea provides a standardized framework for municipalities to assess and improve their energy and climate actions. Participating local authorities adopt interdisciplinary action plans and undergo regular audits to qualify for awards such as the eea Gold, demonstrating excellence in areas including spatial planning, buildings, mobility, waste, and communications. With nearly two thousand cities and towns engaged and millions of residents impacted, the European Energy Award facilitates cooperation, benchmarking, and the exchange of best practices to advance sustainable energy transitions at the local level.
