It was founded by Liu Chuanzhi with a core team of engineers, then incorporated in Hong Kong in 1988. Over decades, Lenovo expanded from distributing foreign IT hardware to creating its own line of personal computers, servers, smartphones, and other electronics. Key milestones include acquiring IBM’s personal computer division in 2005, and later Motorola Mobility.
