About the brand ❤️
Metra is the commuter rail system serving Chicago and the surrounding northeastern Illinois region. It was created during the reorganization of the Regional Transportation Authority in the 1980s to provide a unified structure for the area's fragmented commuter rail services. The Metra name was adopted in 1985 as a service mark meaning “Metropolitan Rail.” Today, Metra operates and oversees 11 rail lines covering nearly 500 route miles and 243 stations across the Chicago metropolitan area. It provides weekday and weekend services connecting Chicago with communities throughout the region and remains one of the largest commuter rail systems in North America.
