About the brand ❤️
Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR) is one of Switzerland’s most prestigious symphony orchestras, founded in 1918 in Geneva by renowned conductor Ernest Ansermet to provide the French‑speaking region (Suisse Romande) with a permanent professional ensemble. Over more than a century, the OSR has gained international acclaim through its artistic excellence, historic recordings and interpretation of 20th‑century repertoire, particularly French and Russian works. The orchestra presents a full season of subscription concerts in Geneva and Lausanne, annual symphonic programs including a United Nations Day concert, and serves as the resident orchestra for opera productions at the Grand Théâtre de Genève. Composed of over 100 permanent musicians from many countries, the OSR tours internationally, collaborates with leading soloists and champions both classical masterpieces and contemporary compositions. Since 2017, British conductor Jonathan Nott has led the orchestra as its Music and Artistic Director, continuing a legacy of artistic growth and global engagement. Supported by public and private partners, the OSR remains a central force in Swiss and international orchestral culture.
