Kymco, formally known as Kwang Yang Motor Co., Ltd, is a Taiwanese powersports manufacturer best known for its scooters, motorcycles, all‑terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility vehicles. Founded in 1963 as a producer of parts for Honda, it built its first complete scooter in 1970 and began marketing under the KYMCO brand in the early 1990s. Headquartered in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, Kymco has grown into one of the largest scooter makers in Taiwan and a major global player, exporting vehicles to more than 100 countries. While privately held, the company operates multiple manufacturing and assembly facilities internationally and collaborates with brands such as BMW and Kawasaki on engines and vehicle production.
